Summary of Features and Articles

November 2009

Editorial: The Reference Roller Coaster, by Carolyn Wilcox. Choice's reference editor describes the new landscape of reference publishing and reviewing.

Beyond the Usual Suspects: Criminology and Criminal Justice Systems, by Karen Evans, reference/instruction librarian at Cunningham Library, Indiana State University.

Television shows such as CSI and Law and Order have sparked interest in criminology and ciminal justice. The former—the scientific study of crime—is multidisciplinary; criminal justice—the use of government and legal systems to control crime—forms a key part of undergraduate criminolgy curricula, along with forensic science. Evans evaluates resources, including a generous selection of Web sites, appropriate to these fields, focusing especially on topics of interest to undergraduates.

Forthcoming Reference Publications, 2009-2010. Choice's twenty-fifth annual "Forthcoming Reference Publications" feature presents selected reference titles scheduled for publication in November 2009 and later, including new books and a variety of electronic resources.
