Summary of Features and Articles

September 2009

Editorial: Choice in Numbers, by Francine Graf. Managing Editor Fran Graf breaks down Choice's reviews by the numbers—including a comparison of today's numbers with those of the magazine's first year of publication.

Racial Desegregation of Public Schools: Survey of Recent Literature, by Joseph Watras, professor of the history of philosophy of education at the University of Dayton in Ohio.

Watras evaluates more than 100 books published since 2000 that offer new perspectives on five areas related to school desegregation: the Civil Rights Movement, Brown v. Board of Education, the consequences of Brown for school desegregation, personal accounts of desegregation, and ideas for improving school performance in the post- Brown era.

Professional Association and Research Institution Publishing, 2009–2010: Recent & Forthcoming Titles. This new feature in Choice's popular Forthcoming Series focuses on the publishing programs of professional societies and associations and research institutions.
